It’s a dry, hot, humid day in July as Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid addresses the local media after a morning camp practice. Reid has been to this annual rodeo many times before while examining the best in every football team he has ever coached. Reid, the commander in Chief, is still in pursuit of an NFL championship as of 2018.

Yes, that’s right Reid is one of the most respected NFL football coaches who happen to be at the highest pinnacle in his profession. The title of Commander In Chief attached to Reid’s persona only solidifies a mentor who is one significant accomplishment short of a perfect career.

The sixth-year in Kansas City has crept up on Reid, as he prepares for another season in the quest of winning his first Super Bowl championship. If anyone deserves another chance to win one, it is Reid. Why? Reid earned the opportunity by committing his entire coaching career placing others first.

Paving The Road To The Super Bowl

Reid, the coach, was destined to be a great teacher because of his ability to connect with the most profound inner talent of any athlete. During his time with the Philadephia Eagles, Reid the EVP shopped for the groceries (in the draft and trades) and prepared the meals (controlled most offensive play calling).

Reid spent 14 years with the Eagles and was the winningest coach in franchise history with a record of 130-93-1. He made the playoffs in seven out of 10 seasons along with one Super Bowl appearance.

A True Believer Of Destiny And Second Chances

Reid is a true believer in fate and second chances throughout his career. He experienced setbacks but never let them get in the way of his passion for leading men. One of Reid’s biggest tragedies was the loss of his son Garrett, who died of an accidental drug overdose. Another letdown Reid faced was being fired for the first time in his career from the Philadelphia Eagles on December 31st, 2012.

Reviving A Franchise Legacy And Bringing Back The Glory

The Kansas City Chiefs hired Reid as their 13th head coach on January 7, 2013. It took only seven days for one long journey to end and another to begin a relentless pursuit for a Super Bowl Championship. With Reid’s high profile hire Chiefs owner Clark Hunt positioned his franchise for long-term success and a Super Championship in the future.

On April 27, 2017, Reid started a football renaissance to bring back pride and glory to Kansas City. The date is when the Chiefs drafted Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes with the 10th overall pick in the first round. Mahomes skill set is perfect for Reid and his West Coast offensive schemes.

It is only a matter of time before Reid and Mahomes deliver the Chiefs franchise to new heights in the coming years. Lastly, Reid will get the job done, and nothing will stop him from reaching his final coaching chapter.
