USC Trojans Trail Washington Huskies 35-28 At Half

Whew! Everyone take a deep breath. What a wild first half that had a little of everything…except for defense.

So far, we have gotten all of the fireworks that we expected. The offenses have been absolutely electric with big plays aplenty. The defenses, however, have been non-existent. Each unit has forced one punt, and that has been the extent of their effectiveness…minus one critical mistake from USC Quarterback Caleb Williams.

With just over one minute remaining in the first half, the USC Trojans had the ball at the 25-yard line, and the game was tied 28-28. The thought was that SC would either drive quickly down the field and get points, or, worst-case scenario, go into the half tied. Well, the OTHER worst-case scenario happened as Williams fumbled and Washington scored three plays later to take a 35-28 lead.

SC got the ball back with 20 seconds remaining and moved it to mid-field, but did not have enough time to convert any points.

There is a whole half of football to play, but it is tough to play out a scenario where USC wins this game. The offense is going to have to play absolutely perfect and score on every drive, and the defense is going to have to get at least two stops or a couple of turnovers.
