Hours after fellow former UCLA Bruin defensive back Kamari Ramsey committed to USC, John Humphrey followed suit. The exodus from Westwood is predicated by the poaching of D’Anton Lynn, UCLA’s former defensive coordinator, by the USC Trojans. Ramsey cited that as a reason for leaving and it can be assumed that Humphrey’s reasons include his established fit in Lynn’s defense.
Last season, Humphey compiled 31 tackles, missing only three tackles in 12 games. He also had four pass breakups and two interceptions. He also recorded four tackles and a forced fumble in UCLA’s win over USC.
USC Trojans Defense Taking Shape
Humphrey is yet another piece of the Trojans defensive puzzle to fall into place. along with Ramsey, the USC Trojans defense has added cornerback DeCarlos Nicholson from Mississippi State, safety Akili Arnold and linebacker Easton Mascarenas from Oregon State, and defensive lineman Nate Clifton from Vanderbilt.
