After De-Committing From USC Trojans, Julian Lewis Rejects Georgia And SEC For Other School

It appears that the Julian Lewis and USC Trojans saga is finally over. Well, it was really over last weekend when he de-committed from the Trojans, and Lincoln Riley and USC flipped another 5-star QB, Husan Longstreet.

But now there can officially be closure and everyone can go about their business.

Today on the Pat McAfee Show, Julian Lewis officially announced that he will be committing to the Colorado Buffaloes.

Why Did Julian Lewis Choose Colorado Over USC Trojans?

Without a sit-down interview, we will never fully know the answer to this, but it does seem that it actually worked out best for both parties.

Husan Longstreet is a local CA quarterback, and actually a better fit for Lincoln Riley’s system. Julian Lewis will be the face of Colorado football immediately, and will most likely start as a true freshman.

Lincoln Riley was all in on Lewis, but once it became clear that Lewis may not be all in on USC, Riley and QB Coach Luke Huard began their recruitment of Longstreet.

Per Steve Wiltfong of On3, once Longstreet committed to USC last Saturday Night, Riley and his staff called Lewis and his camp to tell them that they were moving in a different direction. Lewis officially de-committed the next day.

Before today, Colorado had the 65th-ranked 2025 recruiting class, per On3. Adding Lewis jumps them 46th, but they still have a ways to go to improve the class. USC currently has the 14th-ranked 2025 class.

In his two years at CU, Coach Prime has lived in the transfer portal, something that he will undoubtedly do again this offseason, as the Buffs will be losing a lot of talent including, arguably, the best player in College Football, Travis Hunter.

So Lewis goes to Colorado, and Longstreet stays home and goes to USC.
