USC Trojans Lose Another 4-Star Recruit, LB Flips To SEC

After a disappointing season, the USC Trojans have lost another high-end commitment, this time in four-star linebacker, Ty Jackson announcing his commitment flip to the Florida Gators.

Jackson visited Florida on November 23 for their game against the Ole Miss Rebels, an outing that culminated in an unexpected victory for the Gators, boosting their record to 6-5. This visit was not Jackson’s inaugural experience with Florida; he previously attended their season opener against the Miami Hurricanes. His latest trip served as the decisive factor in his decision to realign with the Gators.

Hailing from Loxahatchee, Florida, Jackson initially committed to the Trojans on September 9. On3 ranks him as the 135th-best player nationally, the 15th linebacker in the 2025 class, and the 20th player in Florida. Although Jackson’s father told On3 that the visit was merely to enjoy the game, Florida’s recruiting staff executed a strategic push that ultimately swayed the former USC commit.

Jackson has long been a coveted target for the Gators, who have intensified their pursuit over the past year. Despite his commitment to USC, the Gators maintained ongoing communication with him. Jackson’s interest in Florida was strong, yet it was his rapport with USC defensive line coach Eric Henderson that initially drew him to the Trojans and influenced his initial commitment.
