Commitment silly season is in full swing as the nation’s top high schoolers players get ‘wined and dined.’ The USC Trojans are no exception, this time of year taketh away as much as it giveth. It has been taking away more often recently than the Trojans would like. But today they get some positive news; offensive tackle Carde Smith has de-committed from Auburn.
USC football is newly in the market for the Mobile, Alabama native. They didn’t extend a scholarship offer until a little over a month ago, nine months after Auburn first offered Smith. But Smith visited USC on June 21st and less than a week later he chose to withdraw his commitment to Auburn.

“Talking with Coach [Josh] Henson and Lincoln Riley, they told me I’d like the place,” Smith told Jarrett Perez of 247 Sports. “So I came up there, and I checked it out and from everything they said… it was true.”

Smith, who measures 6-foot-5 and 293 pounds, ranks as the No. 15 prospect in the state of Alabama and the No. 26 offensive tackle in the class of 2025, according to 247Sports. He would be the Trojans’ first offensive tackle commitment from the 2025 class and the second lineman, joining iOL Willi Wascher.
On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the USC Trojans the edge (59.4%) in landing the Williamson High School junior and gives Auburn a 38.4 percent chance of winning him back.
