USC Football Named Final Contender To Land Top Transfer Portal Cornerback

Cormani McClain, the coveted cornerback signing of Colorado football’s 2023 recruiting class, is entering the NCAA transfer portal, as first reported by On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Tuesday. By Wednesday Tom Loy of 247 Sports reported that USC Football made McClain’s shortlist of possible new schools. The other is South Florida.

The former five-star prospect played in nine games starting four as a true freshman cornerback. The 6’2″ 165 lbs Florida native recorded 13 total tackles, two pass breakups, and one TFL.

Cornerback is by no means the Trojan’s top priority in this term of the transfer portal. But they certainly aren’t in the place to turn their nose up at any high-end defensive prospects.

That said, cornerback depth is also not not a priority. While they are set when it comes to starters, USC has lost three cornerbacks to the portal in this window. Tre’Quon Fegans Red Shirt Freshman, Domani Jackson Sophomore, and Fabian Ross Sophomore all left USC.

McClain wouldn’t be seen as merely a depth piece. He would play meaningful snaps for the Trojans.
