Top SoCal CB Recruit Includes USC Trojans in Final 4 Choices: Fight On Remains in Contention Among Elite Programs

Chuck McDonald, cornerback of the famed Mater Dei High School football program, has officially narrowed his college program search down to his final four. And it is a doozy of a list. Along with the USC Trojans, McDonald included Oregon, Georgia, and Alabama.

McDonald announced his decision on Mother’s Day in honor of his mom, who passed away late last year.

On3 Sports gives USC the best chance at landing the 6’1″ 180 lbs junior. They give the Trojans a 62.3 percent chance followed by Alabama with a 12.9 percent chance. McDonald is ranked as the 8th-best CB in his class by Rivals Sports.

As for McDonald himself, he remains outwardly non-commital, telling 247 Sports,

“Right now, the plan is to take my visits and then evaluate everyone and see where I feel the best fit for me is. It’s going to be a tough decision because I have four great programs but I’m excited to go through the process.”

McDonald’s Impression of the USC Trojans

“USC is close to home and they’re building something good with their new defensive staff,” he told 247 Sports, “I have a great relationship with most of the coaching staff and have connected well with the new coaches, coach (Doug) Belk and coach (D’Anton) Lynn and already knew coach (Taylor) Mays and coach Bookie (Radley-Hiles)”

McDonald combined for 34 tackles, seven passes defended, and an interception last season, per MaxPreps.
