On Wednesday morning, Gavin Meyer, who entered the transfer portal at the beginning of the month with the intent to leave Wyoming, chose his new team; the Trojans. This is a quality addition to USC football, which is in the middle of a massive defensive rebuild.
The 6’4, 282 pound nose tackle announced his decision on X, accompanied by a black and white photo of him in an SC jersey, holding Tommy Trojan’s sword, and captioned with, defensive line coach, Eric Henderson’s coaching philosophy, #DAWGWORK.

Henderson was brought on as an NFL-level defensive line coach, but also because of his passion for recruiting players. Henderson now ranks #2 for his 2025 recruiting efforts.
Meyer splashed onto the scene in 2022 when he racked up 40 tackles, including five tackles for loss, four sacks, and a forced fumble. He moved into a rotational pass rush specialty role in 2023. He racked up the defense’s third most quarterback pressures despite playing the 14th most snaps.
