USC unable to muster more than one first down on their first possession. Forced to punt. Cal now has the ball.

It took 5 plays for Cal to drive right down the field and punch it in the end zone. Not the defense we wanted to see the #Trojans open up with. Cal takes a 7-0 lead. If you chose Cal as the team to score first, you were correct.

A 1-yard QB keeper for Caleb Williams at the goal line leads to six! But…the snap was muffed on the extra point and the try was no good. So Cal holds onto a 7-6 lead.

That drive for the Trojans was 10 plays, went 72 yards, and took 4:23 off the clock.

Cal jumps offsides on the 4th and 5, but USC converts anyway with a 20-yard completion to Terrell Bynum. And Travis Dye scores on the next play, rushing over the right side of the line. 12-yard TD run. USC takes the lead 13-7 with 11:44 left in the first half.

USC’s defense is settling down now. Tuli Tuipulotu had a big 8-yard sack on 2nd down, which forced 3rd and long. Cal punts. USC with the ball now.

USC forces a turnover on downs as Cal opted to go for it instead of kicking the field goal. Cal went shotgun empty formation and threw an incomplete pass.

USC wasn’t able to do anything with it and had to punt it right back. On Cal’s first play, Jack Plummer floated a pass down the left hash right to Calen Bullock for the INT.

USC made quick work after the turnover. After a 39-yard pass to Tahj Washington, Caleb Williams completed a 7-yard touchdown pass to Michael Jackson III. USC on top 20-7 with 53 seconds left in the 1st half.

USC forces a three and out out of the half.

Once USC got the ball on offense, Caleb Williams hit Michael Jackson III on a quick bubble screen, which Jackson turned into a 59-yard touchdown. Trojans are beginning to run away with this one now!

Cal counters with a touchdown of their own aided by a big 58-yard pass completion down the sideline.

USC leads 27-14.

USC capped off another great drive with an 8-yard touchdown from Caleb Williams to Tahj Washington. Williams has 313 yards passing and 3 touchdowns after 3 quarters of play, and Washington has 112 yards receiving and a touchdown.

USC leads the game 34-14.

Cal responds with a touchdown of their own on a 47-yard touchdown pass. Cuts the lead to 34-21.

After converting a surprise onside kick, Cal drives down the field and punches in another touchdown. This one a Jack Plummer pass to Jeremiah Hunter. USC’s Nick Figueroa blocked the extra point, but this is now a one-score game.

USC leads 34-27

Caleb Williams does Caleb Williams things. Michael Jackson III is taking over the game with a big reception and a huge reverse run. USC gets in the end zone and extends the lead back to 41-27. Really want to see the defense close it out.

The defense is unable to close it out, yet at least. Cal scores a touchdown with 2:31 left. They convert the 2-point conversion and are only down 6.

USC recovers the onside kick attempt by Cal. On a huge 3 and 5, Caleb Williams kept it himself and converted the first down that iced the game. USC wins 41-35.

USC moves to 8-1 on the season. Let’s see where they end up in Tuesday’s rankings!
