Las Vegas Raiders Won’t Pursue Jalen Ramsey, According To New Reporting

Despite speculation about a potential fit, the Las Vegas Raiders are not expected to pursue a trade for Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey, according to Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. While the Raiders had been loosely linked to Ramsey given their cap flexibility and need in the secondary, Bonsignore’s intel signals that Las Vegas is not actively targeting the seven-time Pro Bowler.

That revelation cuts against a recent prediction by CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin, who floated the Raiders as a logical landing spot due to their $36 million in cap space and head coach Pete Carroll’s track record with strong-willed defensive backs. But Bonsignore’s reporting suggests that internal discussions have not pointed toward a Ramsey pursuit—and that remains the case even with an unproven cornerback group led by Eric Stokes and Jakorian Bennett.

Ramsey, 30, is on the trade block after months of quiet tension with the Dolphins. He was an excused absence from Miami’s recent mandatory minicamp, and while a trade has long been expected post–June 1 for cap-related reasons, the market has not materialized. That’s due in large part to the $24.235 million in fully guaranteed salary Ramsey is owed in 2025. Any team acquiring him would likely need Miami to retain a chunk of that money to make the numbers work.

One team that remains in play is the Los Angeles Rams, where Ramsey starred from 2019 to 2022 and helped win Super Bowl LVI. ESPN’s Adam Schefter said Friday on The Pat McAfee Show that Ramsey “would like to go to the West Coast, to Los Angeles — Rams, Chargers, somewhere like that.” That mutual interest gives the Rams a clear edge, though financial obstacles still exist.

With both the Panthers and Raiders now reportedly out, and no formal traction from the Chargers, the Rams remain the likeliest fit—provided the Dolphins lower their demands or agree to eat some salary. Otherwise, Miami may be forced to wait for a training camp injury to reopen the market for Ramsey, who remains one of the league’s most accomplished but expensive defenders.
