4-Star RB Recruit Commits To UCLA Football, Beating Out Cross-Town Rival

It was announced today that Karson Cox of Hesperia, CA has chosen UCLA football over all other college football programs, but most importantly over the USC Trojans.

The 6-foot, 205-pounder unofficially visited the Trojans in January, two weeks after they extended a scholarship offer. Two months later Cox received an offer from UCLA and attended an official visit just last weekend.

Both 247 Sports and On3 predicted the running back would commit to UCLA earlier this week

UCLA has a lot to offer running backs from a coaching perspective. Both head coach DeShaun Foster and offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy played the position in the NFL and both have vast experience coaching the position. Bieniemy’s experience, of course, goes well beyond a positional coach.

UCLA Football Land Exciting RB Prospect

Cox plays on both offense and defense as a member of the Oak Hills Bulldogs. As a running back, Cox ran for 1349 yards at an incredible 10.5 yards per carry and 19 touchdowns in 10 games. That includes a 99-yard rushing touchdown. He also caught 12 passes for 176 yards and three touchdowns. On defense, he has 83 tackles, three sacks, and an interception in his three seasons.

As a track athlete, he ran 11.22-100m and 22.93-200m as a sophomore. That’s the 12th and 11th fastest time in Oak Hills history.
