UCLA Bruins Land 2025 Commit From Top Four-Star Safety, Beat USC And Ohio State

The UCLA Bruins didn’t win many recruiting battles against premier programs in the final years under head coach Chip Kelly. That already seems to be changing under first-year coach DeShaun Foster, who picked up a massive commitment on Saturday.

UCLA’s 2025 recruiting class was already off to a strong start. A year removed from being ranked 44th in the 2024 class by 247 Sports and 69th by On3.com, the Bruins came into the weekend with a top-30 class of commitments. It became an even better group following the latest announcement.

As first reported by Hayes Fawcett of On3.com, four-star safety Jadyn Hudson has committed to the Bruins 2025 recruiting class. The 6-foot-2 defensive back becomes the 11th commitment of this upcoming class, already tying the number from the 2024 recruiting cycle.

Not only did UCLA land one of the top safeties in the country and keep an in-state talent from leaving the region, but it also beat out the USC Trojans, Tennessee Volunteers, and Ohio State Buckeyes for Hudson. He also immediately becomes one of UCLA’s best commits in 2025.

“I knew when I was on my official visit to UCLA on June 1 that I was going there. Talking to the coaches, spending time with the players and being around all of the people at UCLA, I knew that is where I wanted to go. Coach Foster is changing things. He is already making a big difference at UCLA. He cares about his players. Coach Foster came from a military background, so he is all about discipline and teaching.”

Background on UCLA Bruins commit Jadyn Hudson

Jadyn Hudson is a standout defender at Pittsburgh High School, less than 6 hours away from UCLA’s campus. The Bruins were considered favorites to land his commitment, even with offers from programs like USC, Ohio State, the Oregon Ducks, and Georgia Bulldogs.

Hudson will bring outstanding athleticism to the next level. He’s also a two-position star in Pittsburg, playing both safety and wide receiver. While he doesn’t necessarily have the skill set to play wideout at the next level, his ball skills and hands could make him a playmaking safety for the Bruins’ defense in future years.

“A complete safety who shows plenty of range, high level ball skills, attacks the football in the air and high level football instincts. He’s a highly intelligent player, a vocal leader on the defense and always seems to be around the football. He can play in the box, is strong in run support and isn’t afraid to get downhill and lay the wood on an opposing ball carrier. He can play sideline to sideline and does a nice job getting off blocks and tackling in space. He’s a plus athlete who can run and has a nice physical edge to him. His athleticism pops on offense as well as he’s a gifted receiver who runs well after the catch.”
