Reversing the process of aging is a novel fiction that many football players would love to capture. The only other player to capture the novel fiction is Tom Brady. However, the NFL is going to be surprised to find out that Sean McVay’s engineered offense has another “route” to reverse the aging process for offensive weapons.

In the past, McVay has found veteran offensive weapons that have been misused and found a niche for their skillset. Below is a chart that illustrates offensive weapons that have been mismanaged, and their eventual production with the Rams.

On Sunday, DeSean Jackson will be the next player on this list.

Robert Woods Catches Yards TD
Buffalo 2016 51 613 1
Rams 2017 56 781 5
Rams 2018 86 1219 6

Sammy Watkins Catches Yards TD
Buffalo 2016 28 430 2
Rams 2017 39 593 8
Kansas City 2018 40 519 3

Brandin Cooks Catches Yards TD
Patriots 2017 65 1,082 7
Rams 2018 80 1,204 5

The DeSean Jackson optimism is rooted in the fact that Matthew Stafford has an ability to improve players around him. Thus, with McVay’s genius game-planning coupled with Matthew Stafford’s elite talent, expect DeSean Jackson to Benjamin Button his NFL career.

McVay has the Aaron Donald effect, but for offensive players. Meaning that offensive players that migrate to the Rams will be productive because of McVay’s ability to find players that fit his offense. Synergistically, these two men have altered the whole culture of the Los Angeles Rams.

DeSean Jackson is a mature, savvy veteran that will be able to show that reverse aging is possible with Sean McVay and the Rams.
