Week 6 of the NFL season is just a day away and it’s time to make some very important decisions on who to start and who to sit on your roster. The injuries are starting to stack up and so it is very important to look at your matchups and decide who is the best viable option to give you the most optimum lineup.

If your team is similar to mine then you have been riddled with players being sent to the IR so you have been playing the waiver wire like the fiddle in “The Devil Went Down To Georgia.” Here is my advice on whether you should start some of those guys, or stick with the seasoned veterans.

Start ‘Em

Christine Michael – RB Seattle Seahawks

Michael has a very favorable matchup this week going against the Atlanta Falcons who have given up the 5th most fantasy points to running backs this year. In his previous two games, Michael has posted 25.1 and 20 fantasy points, very good production for a guy who was not really on the radar entering training camp. Coming off a bye week and playing in Seattle, Christine is a must start.

Allens Hurns – WR Jacksonville Jaguars

Hurns has struggled a bit so far this year but did grab his first touchdown of the season in his previous game. He will look to build on that performance against a very inconsistent Bears secondary. The Jags were on a bye last week giving Hurns and Bortles ample time to look at film and get on the same page. I always like to start a talented player after a bye week, mentally and physically rested.

Cameron Meredith – WR Chicago Bears

After Kevin White was placed on IR Cameron Meredith was thrust into the 2nd receiver role alongside Alshon Jeffery, and he did not disappoint. He posted 26 fantasy points and out-targeted Jeffery 12 to 6. He is a big body that will be the go-to receiver in the red zone. I also really like the matchup against the Jaguars. The Jags have given up 7 touchdowns to receivers in only 4 games.

Sit ‘Em

Sammie Coates – WR Pittsburgh Steelers

If you picked up Sammie Coates on the waiver wire then you were very pleased after his last week’s performance. However, this week he is questionable with a broken index finger and a laceration on his left hand. Even in his massive performance last week he had trouble catching the ball and even dropped a sure-thing touchdown in the red zone. He has a favorable matchup but the injury worries me and he could have a very inconsistent game.

Tevin Coleman – RB Atlanta Falcons

Coleman will continue his streak of inconsistent play. After a big game last week receiving out of the backfield, Coleman will struggle this week in Seattle. Freeman is the clear number 1 running back and Coleman relies solely on receptions. Seattle gives up the 5th fewest fantasy points to running backs and had a bye week to plan for Coleman’s style of play.

Ezekiel Elliott – RB Dallas Cowboys

In deeper leagues ‘Zeke is always a must start, but in 10 person leagues, you probably have someone on your bench that has a much more favorable matchup. Elliott has been killing it the last 3 weeks, rushing for over 134 yards in each of those games. However, this week he goes up against the number 1 rushing defense in the NFL. Green Bay has only given up 42.8 yards rushing per game thus far. If you have another starting running back on your bench, I would roll the dice with that guy.
