SmackDown Live Summary

Tonight’s SmackDown will see the last of the Money in the Bank (MITB) qualifying matches between Samoa Joe and Daniel Bryan. With this, tonight is sure to be a great episode full of plenty of build up for the coming weeks and MITB.

So, join us as we break down the SmackDown Summary for May 29th.

Opening Segment

Samoa Joe opens up the show by coming to the ring, grabbing a ladder and taking the men’s MITB briefcase, claiming that after MITB, he’ll secure the briefcase.

Joe is interrupted by Daniel Bryan and the match is about to take place, but the two men are interrupted by Big Cass. Cass claims that the MITB opportunity should be his. Cass says that this match won’t happen, but instead Cass will fight Joe when Cass is “medically cleared.” Cass announces he’s medically cleared and takes out both Joe and Bryan.

Later in the night, it’s announced that it will be a triple threat match between these three men later in the main event.

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Tye Dillinger

Dillinger takes control early, but he’s lured to the outside of the ring where Nakamura turns the tables. We come back from break to find Shinsuke still in control, but Dillinger is not going down easily. Occasionally, Nakamura will stop and count while Tye is on the mat.

Nakamura finishes the match with a Kinshasa and the three count.

Dance-Off: Lana & Naomi

As both women are coming to the ring, Lana is escorted to the ring by Rusev Day and Naomi by The Usos. The two women scuffle and everything breaks down. That seems to be the entirety of this pointless segment.

The New Day vs. The Miz & The Bar

Cesaro and Big E start off the match and The New Day take control early. We come back from commercial to find the Bar and Miz dominating the competition. Things break down outside the ring and Woods and Big E are taken out, leaving Kofi to fend for himself.

Woods gets the hot tag and takes out the opposition. Late in the match, the two teams go back and forth until Big E gets the win after hitting the Big Ending on The Miz.

Mandy Rose vs. Asuka

Before the match, Carmella comes to ringside to sit at commentary. Asuka is on her way down to the ring when she’s jumped from behind by Sonya Deville. The bell rings and Rose takes advantage.

We come back from commercial to find both women trading control. Asuka slaps on the Asuka Lock and gets the win by submission.

MITB Qualifying Triple Threat Match

The match starts and Joe and Bryan team up against Cass. The three men trade blows as the match moves to the outside. We come back from commercial to find Joe in control of the match. Taking the match inside and outside of the ring, the men dominate the match in rotations for a majority of the match.

Late in the match, Bryan looks to be in control as he takes out Joe and Cass. Daniel hits Cass with “The Knee” but Joe slaps on the Coquina Clutch immediately following that. Bryan doesn’t tap, but fades away and the referee is forced to call the match in favor of Samoa Joe.

Conclusion

Tonight, we saw a great tag team match, build for multiple matches at MITB and the final man named for the MITB ladder match.

With every match a great one, coupled with some okay promos, we’re on the right track heading to MITB.

A great night, overall.
