Who will we see at quarterback next year for the Jags? I know it might seem early to discuss, but with the Jacksonville Jaguars winning and seemingly making a run for the playoffs this year, their chances at a high draft pick to get the sought-after quarterback of the future are dwindling. So, who will be at the helm for the Jags next year? What quarterback options do they have?
Do the Jags keep Blake Bortles and ride with him as far as he can go? Do they cut him and play Chad Henne? Or are there other options?
Peyton Manning changed teams and went to the Super Bowl behind a stout defense in Denver. Could the Jaguars use John Elway’s recipe? There are a couple of options there for the Jaguars to consider. At the end of this year Eli Manning, Drew Brees, and Kirk Cousins are all going to be available and could bring in veteran winning leadership.

Eli Manning makes sense on a couple of levels. 1. He would be reunited with his old head coach Tom Coughlin. 2. Manning needs to get out of New York who just claimed its first victory of the season but is now without any starting wide receivers (until Sterling Shepard returns).
The problem with Eli is he looks like he may have lost a step and hasn’t looked sharp yet this season. This could be a lack of weapons, but he does have Odell Beckham Jr. He does, however, lack a legitimate running threat which Leonard Fournette can provide.
Drew Brees will be a free agent at the end of this year and he has had a great career in New Orleans. His time is obviously over with the Saints as their offense has been struggling and now, so is their defense (minus the anomaly that happened on Sunday).
They can’t really do much on either side of the football. I am sure he would appreciate a stout defense that would give him more opportunities to start with better field position than the 25-yard line.
Brees can still sling the pigskin, but his TD to INT ratio has been down that past years. This can be blamed on the fact that he doesn’t have a lot around him in the Superdome. Perhaps, in the twilight of his career, behind a stout running attack and a good O-line, Brees won’t be asked to do as much and he can focus on making better throws and leading the team to the promised land.Kirk Cousins from Washington is also going to available at the end of the season. He has gone the last two years with a franchise tag and no real commitment from the Redskins organization. Cousins is off to a great start and is proving he deserves a long term contract with the Redskins or anywhere else. There’s not a lot of downside to the Cousins move, except he is going to be the more expensive option. A lot of teams are in need of a good quarterback. A lot of teams will make a run at Cousins. Taking him from Washington will cost the Jags a lot. I am sure it will take money to pay him, maybe even the most lucrative contract in NFL history, but it will also take compensation to the Redskins through draft picks and future draft picks.
