Does anything ever go the Jets way? The easy answer is, no. They have once again found a way to ruin a good thing. Up and coming Wide Receiver Robby Anderson has been arrested by authorities for breaking numerous laws. The most notable? Driving 60 miles an hour over the posted speed limit, resisting arrest, and using language so vulgar that it can’t be written in a public forum.

A Fall From Grace

This couldn’t have happened at a worse time for Anderson. The second-year wide receiver had a breakout season, accumulating 7 touchdowns and almost 1,000 yards. His brilliant play on the field, however, comes with a trend of very bad decisions off of it.

Anderson was arrested once before in May of 2017 and has since gained a reputation as a hot head around the league. He has been flagged for slamming his helmet in anger and has been seen yelling on the sidelines numerous times.

Unquestionable Talent With Questionable Personality

Anderson’s talent is obvious, but the baggage attached is a source of concern. His “fiery” personality has proven to be a problem on numerous occasions. With this most recent brush with the law, however, its clear Anderson’s personality issues stretch far beyond the football field.

He has a diva-like personality without the credentials to warrant the behavior. Todd Bowles put in a lot of work trying to rid the locker room of problematic players, and now this. A hot-head wide receiver with an obvious anger management issue.

The Jets prove once again that they can’t get out of their own way. This is reminiscent of the Sheldon Richardson debacle. Anderson joins him as another promising player whose off-the-field issues put him in a bad spot. There’s no scenario in which Anderson is allowed to get away with this and continues to play. The Jets have a situation on their hands, and the future of this franchise may come down to how much drama the front office is willing to accept.
