All charges against Rich Swann, a former WWE Cruiserweight Champion, have been dropped. Swann had been facing charges of kidnapping and assault. The charges stem from an incident that took place back in December.

Swann was charged after an incident with his wife, Su Yung, who is also a professional wrestler. Yung alleged that Swann forced her back into a car after she had gotten out of it. After looking into the incident prosecutors made the decision that there was not enough evidence to proceed.

After hearing of the incident, WWE immediately suspended Swann. WWE has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to domestic violence.

Swann’s attorney released the following statement after the charges were dismissed.

“We are very pleased with the resolution of these charges. We would like to thank the State Attorney’s Office for conducting a thorough investigation, as well as Mr. Swann’s family, friends, and fans that supported him through this. During our representation of Mr. Swann, we have come to know him as a kind and humble young man, who we believe has a bright future ahead of him. We are hopeful that with the dismissal of these charges Mr. Swann will be able to return to the WWE and our firm will do everything we can to assist him in returning to the ring. Thank you.”

Earlier this month Triple H told Tony Magloi of The Wrap that WWE was just waiting to see how Swann’s case went before deciding whether to fire or reinstate him.

“We are just waiting on the legal,” Triple H said. “We have a zero-tolerance policy on that, as you’ve well seen. So he’s suspended until it is determined legally one way or the other.”

With the recent firing of Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore and failing ratings, 205 Live desperately needs Swann. It was recently announced that WWE would be appointing a general manager for the struggling cruiserweight division. That general manager turns out to be Drake Maverick.
