Los Angeles Rams Top 5 Players

The Los Angeles Rams are as loaded as at any time of the Sean McVay era. Most would agree that a sizable chunk of teams could take any of the Rams top 5 players and instantly have a new top player on their team.

However, who is the best of the best? Does Cooper Kupp’s league-leading season matter more than Matthew Stafford’s dominant playoff run? What about Aaron Donald? Where does he fit in with the team? With such a loaded roster, five different people may have five different rankings of the Rams Top 5 players. That said, here’s who’s shaping up to be the top five players on the Rams heading into 2022.

Los Angeles Rams Top 5 Players

1) Cooper Kupp – WR

While Matthew Stafford has been great for the Rams and Aaron Donald has been even better, Cooper Kupp had arguably the best season put forward by a wide receiver in the history of the NFL. Aaron Donald and Matthew Stafford didn’t have that type of year. Of course, Donald and Stafford are still in the elites. Basically, the top three players are basically splitting hairs. Heading into 2022, no one is as hot as the wide receiver with nearly 2000 regular-season receiving yards in 2022.

2) Aaron Donald – DT

Last year, Aaron Donald would have been number one on this list. Hell, the pass rusher would have been the top-ranked player on the list every season since he was drafted. After 2022, with even a slight dip from Cooper Kupp, Donald has a great shot to take over the number one spot. However, as of June of 2022, the pass rusher is second-place behind Kupp. In the Super Bowl, Donald had the most important sack of the game to complement his 12.5 sacks earned in 2021.

3) Matthew Stafford – QB

Matthew Stafford, Aaron Donald, and Cooper Kupp are all on a similar tier heading into 2022. Kupp’s fire is the youngest, but the brightest. Donald’s fire is the longest burning, but Stafford is right there as well. Stafford threw for 41 touchdowns and 17 interceptions, basically tying his career record and impressing the NFL community with his ability to win without the Lions.

Having a quarterback with 41 touchdowns and 17 interceptions ranked third on this list demonstrates just how deep the Rams are in terms of top-end talent. Over time with similar play, Stafford will likely play his way into first place on this list as Kupp and Donald eventually succumb to father time. However, after one season, the quarterback should be proud of making it into the Rams Top 5 players.

4) Jalen Ramsey – CB

Jalen Ramsey gets the best of the NFL and still finds a way to stand tall. According to PFF, Ramsey earned an 84.5 PFF grade and has been elite for most of his NFL career. Without Ramsey, the Rams would not have been able to win the Super Bowl or make the playoffs in Jared Goff’s final season in Los Angeles. 2021 was his best season since 2017. At just 27 years old, the cornerback could still be elite three years from now.

5) Bobby Wagner – LB

At 32 years old, Bobby Wagner could see a drop-off at any time, but in June of 2022, the linebacker is still elite and therefore has to be among the Rams top 5 players. Over the last three years, Wagner has averaged a 77 PFF grade. Assuming he can fit in with the Rams as well as he fit in with the Seahawks, the linebacker could prove to be a source of relief at a position that has plagued the team off and on for quite some time. While 2022 could see a drop in production, it could also see a spike. Will Wagner be a boom or bust? Most are expecting big things from the former Seahawk.
