NFL Important Dates

The NFL isn’t wasting any time in disclosing important dates in order to get the ball rolling. With the 2017 kickoffs right around the corner, the National Football Headquarters has released their roster of imperative dates to make all teams on one accord; with heavy deadlines, coaches must make quick decisions if they plan to build their team and prepare them for war. Late June:

By late June a conference will be held by the Rookies Transition Program, with mandatory attendance for all NFL rookies. Each transition program will be held in their own private sectors of each club.

July 17th

4:00 pm ET is the deadline for any club to sign their franchise player to a multi-year contract or extension. If the player misses this deadline he can be exposed to a yearly contract in which he is subjected to do only with his prior club during his 2017 season. This contract cannot be renewed until after the club’s last regular season game.

July 24th

After 4:00 pm ET, the signing period is finished for transition players who have outstanding tenders. The Tuesday following the 10th weekend of the regular season ordains clubs with rights to negotiate.

Also marks the end of the signing period for Unrestricted Free Agents, to whom “May 9th Tender” made available by prior clubs. After and until 4:00 pm, New York Time, the Tuesday following the 10th weekend of regular season ordains clubs with rights to negotiate.

August 3rd

The Hame of Fall Game: Arizona Cardinals Vs. Dallas Cowboys, Canton, Ohio.

August 3rd-6th

The Hall of Fame Weekend, Canton, Ohio.

August 8th

Contract deadlines for players to earn an Accrued Season for free agency by their clubs.

August 8th

If a drafted Rookie isn’t signed with their drafted club, the player now must sign specifically with the club who drafted him. If not, the player is prohibited from being drafted or traded with any other club in the NFL, until the day of the draft in the following year of the 2018 leagues.  

August 9th-13th

The Senior Bowl, Ladd-Peebles Stadium, Mobile, Alabama.

NFL Pro Bowl, Camping World Stadium, Orlando, Florida.

An assistant coach who’s team is going to the Super Bowl will be allotted a second interview (if he has previously received an interview) for another club. This may be his final determinant to whether he will obtain his new position.

February 4th

Super Bowl LII, U.S. Bank Stadium, Minnesota.

February 27th- March 5th

Combine Timing and Testing, Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana.

March 14th

All 2017 contracts will expire at 4:00 pm. The 2018 League Year and Free Agency period begins at 4:00 pm. Clubs will be presented with a personnel notice, containing the details of all personal transaction submitted to the league office of administrations.

April 16th

Clubs with returning coaches start the 2018 off-season workout program.  

April 26th-28th

NFL Draft begins
