Nix Added To The Mix For The Los Angeles Rams In The 1st Round, Per New PFF Mock Draft

The post-combine mock drafts are rolling out and the Los Angeles Rams are being dealt the usual suspects at the obvious positions of need, but Pro Football Focus opts for one of the more controversial positions of need, quarterback.

The Los Angeles Rams immediate need for a quarterback is behind Matthew Stafford on the depth chart. They don’t currently have a backup quarterback on the roster. But the long-term need is the succession plan for when the soon-to-be 37-year-old quarterback. In that case, drafting a quarterback makes some sense.

Los Angeles Rams Draft Bo Nix In With Pick 19

In their latest mock draft, PFF has the Rams taking former Oregon Ducks quarterback Bo Nix. Nix isn’t the first quarterback having been mocked to the Rams. Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy was a popular choice early in the mock draft season. But PFF likes Nix more now with McCarthey going at pick 30.

Nix’s draft stock has taken a bump after a good performance at the NFL Combine, but many pundits have been fooled by the Underwear Olympics portion of the event. But the negative sides of Nix’s game still exist. Because of those, taking Nix in the first round is beyond a stretch regardless of when #9 decides to hang them up.

The Rams current contending window is tied to Stafford, but not Stafford alone. It’s also Aaron Donald, Cooper Kupp, and Sean McVay. the expiration on all four has been set. Picking a quarterback in the first round would counteract what the Los Angeles Rams are building toward for this season and next.
