Madden 22 is right around the corner. Some players are salivating, thinking about getting their hands on the game. Some players are burnt out on the franchise after decades of yearly releases. Nevertheless, many of both camps are curious about the ratings with Matthew Stafford and other Rams players. With the ratings now public, what does the game have to say about the Los Angeles Rams going into 2021? Here is a look at some tacit statements the game is making with their ratings about the team.
Madden 22 Statements On Stafford And Rams
1) Rams Have Two Of The Best Players In The League
Madden 22 loves two of the players on the Los Angeles Rams defense. Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey are both 99 overall players in this year’s iteration of the game. It will be Aaron Donald’s fifth year in a row in which he has been a part of the 99 club. Last season, Donald earned 13.5 sacks and has earned double-digit sacks in each season since 2014 with the exception of 2016 and 2014.
Jalen Ramsey is rated as the second-best cornerback in the league, according to PFF. While this clashes with Madden 22’s opinion of the player, it confirms that he is elite. He’s never had a season grade lower than 70.0 and he faces the best wide receivers in the game week-after-week.
2) Comparisons To Other Teams
While Madden 22 has a lot of respect for the best players on the Los Angeles Rams, they have some doubts about the team as a whole unit, especially compared to other teams. The Rams are the 11th-best team in the game, earning an 84 overall. EA also thinks that the Rams are as good as their roommates, the Los Angeles Chargers. Both squads have an 84 overall team.
However, Rams fans might be shocked to learn that Madden 22 does not think the Rams have the best roster in the NFC West. The Arizona Cardinals surprisingly take the cake at 85 overall. Next, the Rams are listed at 84 overall. Thirdly, the San Francisco 49ers have an 83 overall. Even with Russell Wilson, Madden 22 has the Seahawks ranked as an 82 overall.
3) Statements About Stafford And Running Game
Matthew Stafford has an 83 overall, which says he is seven points better than Jared Goff in Madden 21 when he earned a 76 overall rating, according to The Rams Wire. Jared Goff threw for 20 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 2020. Meanwhile, Stafford threw for 26 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 2020. Will the jump be worth the cost of admission?

The Rams’ number one running back is a 75 overall. Per Madden 22, Darrell Henderson, even with all the hype that has swelled to him after the loss of Cam Akers, will be a backup-quality player. While splitting carries last season, Henderson earned 624 yards on the ground and five rushing touchdowns.
He also had 16 receptions for 159 yards and one touchdown. If he takes on a bell-cow role with the team while maintaining a 4.5 yards-per-carry average, he could easily be a 1,000-yard rusher this season.
In other words, Madden is openly lowballing Darrell Henderson with the rating. Many expect this to be corrected in Madden 23 after he shows what he can do this season.
