A few days ago, a rumor surfaced that the Los Angeles Rams had been in conversations with the Minnesota Vikings about a potential Matthew Stafford for Sam Darnold trade.
This came just hours after it was being reported that the Rams were taking calls for superstar wide receiver Cooper Kupp.
We have said all along, that if the Rams record was to the point where they would be unable to make a comeback at the trade deadline, then we could see them tearing it all down and preparing for the future and life without their two superstars.
The Vikings as a trade partner for Stafford makes some sense on the surface, however, a Minnesota insider has refuted the idea that the Vikings are interested in making a deal.
Vikings Insider Refutes Matthew Stafford Trade Rumors
Ben Goessling, the Star Tribune’s Viking beat writer, said that a source told him, “There’s zero truth to the idea the Vikings are trying to trade for him [Stafford].”
The irony in all of these wild rumors is that the Rams play the Vikings tonight, for Thursday Night Football. The rumors may not get brought up on the broadcast, but I’m sure social media will certainly keep the conversation going.

If the Rams can shock the Vikings and steal the game, they will go into their matchup with the Seattle Seahawks sitting at 3-4. The Seahawks, currently 4-3, play the Bills this weekend. It is very possible that the Rams can head into the NFL trade deadline sitting at 4-4 and in the lead of the NFC West. But obviously, that means winning their next two games.
If this were to happen, you can expect the Rams to be buyers instead of sellers.
Buckle up, it is going to be a wild couple of weeks for this franchise.
