Exclusive: NFL Insider Reveals QB Stetson Bennett’s Potential Future With Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams are in the process of deciding what’s next after wrapping up the 2024-25 season. Questions continue to surround Cooper Kupp as well as Matthew Stafford.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero addressed both topics in a conversation exclusively with LAFB. In the end, Pelissero believed that the Rams would entertain drafting a receiver in the second or later round. However, the bigger question is what happens at quarterback and whether Stetson Bennett is the answer.

“So eventually whether Cooper Kupp’s there in 2025 or not, you’re going to need another receiver. But they’ve shown that they can find those not necessarily at the top of the draft, and they’re going to need a quarterback succession plan. I know they got the Georgia kid there who they’ve been developing. Could that be a guy down the line? They had Jimmy around this year. You’re going to have to draft a young quarterback eventually,” Pelissero said.

So, according to Pelissero, Stetson Bennett doesn’t appear to be the long-term plan at quarterback. Of course, he could still get a look or compete for the starting job when Stafford hangs it up, but Pelissero believed that the Rams can’t afford to skip drafting a young rookie forever.

The Rams might be looking at one of the quarterbacks at the Senior Bowl as their guy. However, Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward, are not at the event. Additionally, they are likely to be picked long before its the Rams turn to draft.

As such, it could be any of the quarterbacks at the Senior Bowl, many of which might be drafted on Day 2 or Day 3. Jaxson Dart, Riley Leonard, and Seth Hannigan all could be fits.

Hannigan had one of the best throws of the entire week of practice in which he dropped a dime to a receiver cutting up the sideline above the cornerback but below the safety.

If the Rams are interested in taking another swing on Matthew Stafford’s eventual successor from the Senior Bowl, Hannigan might be one of the better options.
