Ahead of the Los Angeles Rams embarrassing 41-10 defeat at the hands of the Arizona Cardinals, they had already added four starters and four rotational backups to the injured reserve or the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. Now after the game, head coach Sean McVay announced three more injured players the team may move to IR.
Los Angeles Rams Considering Adding Cooper Kupp To IR
Star wide receiver Cooper Kupp was among the three. He exited the Cardinals game with an ankle injury and was seen in a walking boot afterward. The pass catch corps were already without Puka Nacua, who is expected to miss 6-7 games, and Tyler Higbee who started the year on the PUP list while recovering from surgery to repair his MCL and ACL.
Offensive Line Woes Continue
Jonah Jackson was also among the Rams players who sustained an injury. The Rams shared that it was a shoulder injury. This isn’t likely a new injury. Jackson missed some training camp due to a shoulder injury. This can be added to Jackson’s long list of injuries sustained over his four seasons, which includes a knee injury that kept him from playing in the NFC Championship game, an ankle injury that kept him out of three games last year, and a wrist injury that kept him out of one game.
This marks the four of the five linemen missing time in 2024. Alaric Jackson missed the first two games due to a suspension. Rob Havenstein missed Week 1 with an ankle injury. Steve Avila played about half the Lions game before leaving with an MCL injury that requires surgery and being placed on the IR. Kevin Dotson was also questionable to play last week with a foot injury that kept him out of two practices last week.
The offensive line’s key backup, Joe Noteboom is also on the IR
DBs Now Without John Johnson
The final injury announcement was safety John Johnson. He has a hairline fracture in his scapula. It was announced via X.com that he would be out for 4-6 weeks.
The defensive backs room also has its share of injuries. Presumptive starting outside corner, Darious Williams and backups Derion Kendrick and Tre’ Tomlinson were all put on the IR ahead of the season. Cobie Durant (toe) and Quentin Lake (hip) were both considered questionable for the Cardinals’ game.
