2021 Man of the Year Nominee: Andrew Whitworth
Andrew Whitworth, 2021 Walter Payton Man of the Year Nominee, is a modern-day legend for the Los Angeles Rams, on and off the field. Since signing with the Los Angeles Rams in 2017, Whitworth has been a physical staple for the offensive line. Prior to Whitworth’s signing, the Rams consistently struggled to find continuity with the left tackle position. However, that is no longer an issue with his presence.
Not only is Whitworth a cornerstone for the Rams’ offensive line, but he is also a man that serves his community. Henceforth, this explains why Whitworth has been named a nominee, for the fourth year in a row, for the 2021 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award.
The Inception of the BigWhit77 Foundation
According to the BigWhit77 Foundation website, in 2008, Whitworth and his wife Melissa Clark Whitworth created the BigWhit77 Foundation, which aimed at investing in their community. Currently, the Whitworths have three programs. First, Whit’s Warriors Scholarship program provides collegiate scholarships to students in Louisiana–specifically Ouachita and Lincoln parishes.
Secondly, the Open Arms program is dedicated to providing financial assistance to families with the adoption process. The Whitworths believe that every child deserves a loving and supportive home. Lastly, the Wish List Event selects 10 families to join the Whitworth’s for an unforgettable night with fun, fellowship, and surprises.
If Whitworth wins the man of the year award, then he will be given $250,000 to donate to the charity of his choice. Also, nominees receive up to $40,000 for the charity of their choice.

Built Through Love
The BigWhit77 Foundation is a beautiful example of what can happen when one finds a strong, loving, and caring partner. On Beyond the Ultimate.org, Whitworth describes how he struggled with his faith, but started to go to church during his second year in the NFL and felt Christ working in his heart. Subsequently, Whitworth said he was tired of running and wanted to live the way Christ called for him, and he later met his wife Melissa Clark Whitworth.
Ultimately, the bond between Andrew and Melissa Whitworth has helped many people during a time of need. Thus, Andrew and Melissa Whitworth are a literal manifestation of what can happen when you give your life over to Christ.
With that in mind, Thank you Andrew Whitworth for serving people in your community and for protecting Matthew Stafford’s blindside–literally, there are not many that can do what you do on and off the field.
