The NBA Tradeline is rapidly approaching (February 6) and it really feels like the Los Angeles Lakers need to make a move to give them a truly viable shot at a title. The current roster is a playoff team, but can they get all the way to the finals and win? That is the question that Rob Pelinka needs to answer over the next week.
While much of the conversation and trade rumors have centered (pun intended) around a big man, a new target has emerged.
Bogdan Bogdanovic Emerges For Los Angeles Lakers

According to Anthony Irwin of ClutchPoints, Atlanta Hawks shooting guard Bogdan Bogdanovic is someone that the Los Angeles Lakers are going after.
“According to sources with knowledge of the situation speaking on the condition of anonymity, the Lakers and Atlanta Hawks are in talks that would send trade target Bogdan Bogdanovic to Los Angeles,” Irwine wrote. “In such a deal, it’s believed Gabe Vincent and Jalen Hood-Schifino would be going to Atlanta. The Lakers would also have to send out one more veteran minimum salary to make the contracts work, though at this time, that player could either be going to Atlanta or elsewhere as part of a bigger trade.”

The move for Bogdanovic would be for the simple reason of creating more space on the court and scoring more points, on a consistent basis. Unfortunately, Bogdan is having the worst scoring season of his career.
Thus far, he is averaging a paltry 10 ppg, and shooting 37.1% from the floor. While this is still double the point output of Gabe Vincent, would this shift the pendulum in favor of a championship?
This feels like a low-risk trade, but is there a high reward? Perhaps a change of scenery and playing alongside LeBron James could squeeze more juice out of Bogdanovic, but I’m still not sure it moves the needle enough.
At the end of the day, the Lakers still really need more consistent play at the center position, which would allow Anthony Davis to move back to his preferred position forward.
Either way, we will have some answers in the next week.
