When Will The Lakers Be Able To Return To Crypto? Authorities Give New Tentative Timeline

The Los Angeles Lakers have already postponed two home games due to the multiple wildfires in Los Angeles County. They have already put off their game against the Charlotte Hornets, which was supposed to be played on Thursday, January 9th, and the San Antonio Spurs game meant for Saturday.

When asked by the Sporting Tribune’s Arash Markazi when teams could expect to return to play in their home stadiums, a public safety official when they were not sure and added, “I wouldn’t advise holding any large events that would require public safety resources and cause unneeded traffic before at least Wednesday.”

More Lakers Games Likely Postponed, Authorities Give Timeline For LA Return

That means the earliest game the Lakers could play in Crypto would be against the Miami Heat, and would result in the postponement of another San Antonio Spurs game, which is scheduled for Monday, January 13th.

Of course, that statement was caveated by uncertainly from the official and with Wednesday being the best-case scenario.

While it is far from the most important question facing the city, it begs the question if the NBA would consider moving the game to another arena, as the NFL did in the case of the Los Angeles Rams Wild Card playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings that was moved to the Arizona Cardinals stadium in Glendale, Arizona rather than at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

In a normal world, the Lakers would be in the midst of a lengthy home stand that would have spanned nearly two weeks and included seven of eight games at Crypto.

That one road game is scheduled to be played just a few miles south against the LA Clippers, a de facto home game that could be subject to postponement.

With just 11 percent containment of the Palisades fire and 27 percent containment of the Eaton Fire near Pasadena, the Lakers aren’t guaranteed to play a game when they head north to play the Golden State Warriors on January 25th.
