Despite the setback, the Lakers hung tough. Davis was able to return to the game in the fourth quarter.

Of course, every time Davis, who has played in more than 70 games three times in his 13-year career a, gets injured, Lakers fans get nervous about playing for a significant span without the veteran big man.

That fear is even greater this year than in years past, not only is the team heavily reliant on Davis, but he is playing some of the best basketball of his career this season.

The Lakers have been actively looking into adding a center via trade for these reasons. Jonas Valanciunas has emerged as a top target. But according to Davis, everyone can take a deep sigh of relief.

“Just a little stinger.” Anthony Davis told reporters about his shoulder injury, “Went in the back, got some work done. Had four fouls anyways, was time for me to go out.”

The Lakers now get a three-day rest before heading north to take on the 13-13 Sacramento Kings. The Kings have won three straight games and are only one game back from LA in the Western Conference standings.
