While the San Francisco Giants are the storied rival of the Los Angeles Dodgers, the San Diego Padres have emerged as a very suitable rival as of late. Part of this is due to proximity and postseason success, but also due to poaching players, by both sides.
Most notable player swaps include Manny Machado and Yu Darvish who are now Padres after having brief stints with the Dodgers. On the Dodgers side, they just acquired Tanner Scott and were able to sign Roki Sasaki after the Padres had been one of the other finalists.
Blake Snell also spent three years with the Padres before joining the Giants last season, and now the Boys in Blue.
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Padres have also faced each other in the NLDS twice in the last three seasons. In 2022, the Padres defeated Los Angeles, and we all know how the 2024 rendition faired.
Perhaps, it is just a coincidence, but the Dodgers organization appears to be joining in on the rivalry fun by trolling the Padres when they first visit Dodger Stadium.
Take a look at the promotional giveaways scheduled for when San Diego is in town.

While promotional giveaways do not affect the players whatsoever, in fact, I doubt they ever know what gets given away on game days, it is still hilarious and will give a little reminder to any opposing fans who visit that the Dodgers are currently running the rivalry, and all of baseball.
We should be in store for plenty of great matchups between these two teams in 2025.
The Dodgers home opener is March 27th against the Detroit Tigers.
