Kawhi Leonard’s return to the court remains uncertain as the Los Angeles Clippers continue to navigate the early portion of the 2024-25 NBA season. The two-time NBA Finals MVP has missed the first 27 games due to a lingering knee injury, for which he underwent a knee procedure during the offseason to address swelling.
Kawhi Leonard Upgraded, But No Timeline To Return
While recent comments from coach Tyronn Lue suggest that Leonard is making progress in his recovery, a definitive timeline for his return remains unclear. He has already been ruled out for their next three games but will travel with the team during their three-game road trip to Dallas for two then to Memphis.
But in a sign of positive movement he has officially been classified as day-to-day.
On Wednesday, Leonard was a full participant in practice which prompted Clippers guard Kris Dunn to tell reporters how impressive he looked in that setting, calling it scary (as in good) and praising the former Defensive Player of the Year’s dominance in that phase of the game, “Him defensively alone, he’s one of them ones.”
Leonard has not played since March 31, 2024, but did play in 68 games last season, his most since the 2016-17 season when playing for the San Antonio Spurs. His efforts last season earned him an All-Star bid and he was named to the second team All-NBA.
