The Los Angeles Chargers can lock up the fifth seed in the upcoming NFL Playoffs with a win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, but a few players have a bit more they will be playing for in the upcoming Week 18 tilt.
Los Angeles Chargers Roster Incentives Up For Grabs Vs. Raiders
JK Dobbins, RB
Running back J.K. Dobbins needs 58 rushing yards to level up from his already secured $300,000 bonus to $450,000.
Dobbins has already logged 842 yards this season — a career-high. He is averaging 70 yards per game this season. Last week, against the New England Patriots, he picked up 78 yards on 19 carries. Previously to that game, Dobbins was on the injured reserve starting Week 13. Week nine was the last time Dobbins rushed for more than 58 yards in a game, although he was well on his way before getting hurt against the Baltimore Ravens.
Dobbins should get a fair shot at hitting this with Gus Edwards ruled out of the game due to an ankle injury. Given his current yards per attempt, Dobbins will need 12 carries to hit 900 yards on the season.
Dobbins was able to pick up 63 yards to take home an extra $150 thousand. He played 75 percent of the offensive snaps and played in the Chargers final drive of the game.
Bud Dupree, Edge
Edge rusher Bud Dupree is one sack away from cashing in on a $250,000 bonus.
With six sacks credited to him already, a seventh would put him at a four-year high. Dupree has seen his playing time cut back over the last six weeks, as Joey Bosa has gotten healthy. The result is one sack in his last seven games. According to Pro Football Focus, Dupree has only generated four pressures in those six games.
He could see a bump in playing time if the Chargers get up big on the Raiders, allowing Jim Harbaugh to sit Bosa for a good portion of the game.
Dupree was unable to log a sack against the Raiders, despite picking up three pressures on 26 snaps
Kristian Fulton, CB
Cornerback Kristian Fulton needs one interception to hit his $125,000 bonus.
Fulton has one pick on the year currently and should expect to play a good chunk of this game given the Chargers’ lack of depth at the outside cornerback position.
However, for all the faults in Raiders QB Aidan O’Connell’s game, he has protected the ball — with an interception percentage of just 1.4. That ties him for 5th best with Joe Burrow and Jalen Hurts.
Fulton did not pick up another pick-off.
