Although he has only been with the Los Angeles Chargers since 2022, Khalil Mack has built a special relationship with his edge-rushing counterpart in that short time.
Mack was asked how his relationship is compared to others he’s had in his 10 seasons in the NFL.
Khalil Mack Comments on Relationship with Joey Bosa
“Very different, very different and it’s special in the sense of just understanding who Joey is as a person.” Mack told reporters, “A lot of people might think they know him but he a cool dude, man cool. He a calm, collected dude. Funny, honest. He going to tell you how you feel no matter what the situation is.
If he feeling bad, that he hurt, at a specific time, he going to let you know and it’s my job as a brother to keep him up and let him know that I’m riding with him regardless of football. It is just football, but in life and in the game of life. You want to be there for your brother and so I just want him to know that I’m always there for him.”
Mack was also asked what he expects from Joey Bosa and if they have a specific plan of attack for division rival Las Vegas Raiders.
“‘Expect’ is just a hard, it’s aharsh word in a sense because I know what I expect from him but I’m not going to tell y’all what I expect. We always talk about what we want to do and that’s something I’m going to keep between us but like I said, I just can’t wait to put it on film on Sunday and see him rolling see all the guys rolling and making plays.”
In the 2023 season opener, Mack and Bosa combined for 10 quarterback pressures and three tackles. Bosa missed both games against the Raiders, but Mack racked up six sacks in the first matchup and totaled 14 pressures in both games.
