The Los Angeles Chargers game against the Cleveland Browns was a lopsided affair in the first half in terms of the scoreboard. The Bolts went into the locker room with a 20-3 lead over the home team. But this game has also been defined by one key stat; Sacks.
At the middle mark, the teams have combined for 10 sacks — the Chargers notched four and the Browns with six. That puts them on pace to surpass the record set by the Green Bay Packers and San Diego Chargers in 1978, of 18 total sacks. They racked up 10 and the Packers had eight in that game.
Chargers/Browns On Pace To Break Combined Sack Record
These teams were one shy of matching the first-half record set in 2010 by the New York Giants and Chicago Bears. That half was much more uneven as the Giants came up with eight in that game.
Defensive tackle Morgan Fox led the way with two sacks. Edge rusher Khalil Mack came up with one and cornerback Cam Hart and edge Tuli Tuipulotu shared one.
For the Browns elite edge rusher Myles Garrett dominated with three takedowns. Linebacker Devin Bush and defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson each have one. Defensive linemen Shelby Harris and Za’Darius Smith each had a half-sack.
In that record-setting game, the final score was even more lopsided at the final bell. The Packers beat the Bolts 24-3.
