The Los Angeles Chargers are preparing for their Week 2 outing against the lowly Carolina Panthers. It represents a second consecutive easy opponent to open the season after Los Angeles defeated the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 1.
With that said, the Chargers still want to be somewhere near 100% as they attempt to avoid being upset by a bad Panthers squad on the road.
Unfortunately, we have an eye-opening update as the Chargers released their latest injury report on Thursday.
Star EDGE rusher Joey Bosa was listed as a did not practice as he deals with a back issue. Bosa was limited on Wednesday, meaning that something could have happened in between the two practice sessions.
Bosa, 29, joined fellow pass rusher Khalil Mack in surprisingly being retained this past offseason. Rumors had suggested that the new power tandem of head coach Jim Harbaugh and general manager Joe Hortiz would move on from the two high-priced Pro Bowlers. It did not happen.
After playing in just 14 games over the past two seasons due to a multitude of injuries, Bosa looked like his old self Sunday against the Raiders. He recorded seven tackles, two quarterback hits, a sack, and a forced fumble in the win.

Joey Bosa Headlines Los Angeles Chargers Injury Report Heading Into Week 2
The Chargers’ injury report on Thursday was rather lengthy. In addition to Bosa, nine others were listed.
- Joey Bosa: Back (DNP)
- Junior Colson: Knee (Full)
- Alohi Gilman: Knee (DNP)
- Hassan Haskins: Toe (Limited)
- Khalil Mack: Rest (Full)
- Joshua Palmer: Knee (Limited)
- Denzel Perryman: Knee (Limited)
- Asante Samuel Jr.: Shoulder (Full)
- Tarheeb Still: Hip (Full)
- Ja’Sir Taylor: Fibula (DNP)
The good news here is that Colson and Samuel Jr. got in full practices. Both played a big role in last week’s defensive effort against the Raiders.
As for Bosa, the Chargers might want to play this one close to the vest. They are taking on a Panthers squad that was blown out by the score of 47-10 by the New Orleans Saints in Week 1.
Quarterback Bryce Young threw two interceptions and was sacked four times in the loss. All said, the Panthers have lost 16 of 18 dating back to the start of last season. If Los Angeles can’t beat this team without Bosa, Harbaugh and Co. will have bigger fish to fry.
