The USC vs Notre Dame rivalry will be put on pause starting in 2026. Both programs hope to pick the game back up as early as 2030.

According to Ross Dellinger of Yahoo Sports, a deal was planned to be signed in November, keeping the game at its normal scheduled time with USC hosting in 2026, but complications in the CFP format and penalizing teams for non-conference losses caused a reassessment.

Notre Dame immediately announced a home and away series with BYU in 2026 and 2027.

USC will look for a new opponent, but a reunion with Stanford feels like a very viable, and great option.
