FANTASY FOOTBALL 2021: WEEK 8 WAIVER WIRE ADDS

Deep breath, so you survived Week 7 ByeApocalypse, relatively intact. Good, because Week 8 has only two teams on their bye week, and the waiver wire adds will be plentiful.

QUARTERBACKS

DANIEL JONES, NEW YORK GIANTS, 28% ROSTERED, @ KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL GAME)

Did you know that the Kansas City Chiefs are giving up the second-most fantasy points to the quarterback position? They have currently allowed opposing quarterbacks 12 passing touchdowns to five interceptions. They have also surrendered 241 rushing yards to the position and four rushing touchdowns.

Jones has at least 27 rushing yards in every game this season, except for against Dallas and the Los Angeles Rams.

This game has the second-highest over/under at 52, with the Chiefs a 10-point favorite.

ALSO CONSIDER: Teddy Bridgewater, Denver Broncos, 20% Rostered vs. WFT

WIDE RECEIVERS

RANDALL COBB, GREEN BAY PACKERS, 9% ROSTERED, @ ARIZONA CARDINALS (THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL GAME)

Currently, both Davante Adams and Allen Lazard are in Covid protocol. That would be 13, 10, and 18 targets that are potentially up for grabs (numbers are the combined targets for both in the last three games).

MVS is coming off the IR, and Cobb’s best game was Week 4 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Cobb was on the receiving end of six targets, five receptions, 69 yards, and two touchdowns.

Arizona has allowed 1,078 yards and nine touchdowns to the wide receiving position. They are yielding 22.4 average fantasy points per game to the position.

ALSO CONSIDER: Darius Slayton, New York Giants, 15% Rostered, @ Kansas City Chiefs

RUNNING BACKS

KENNETH GAINWELL, PHILADELPHIA EAGLES, 21% ROSTERED @ DETROIT LIONS

Miles Sanders is considered week to week, but Gainwell should be on your roster anyway. The Eagles only run the ball on 38.95% of their offensive plays (19th in the league). Gainwell’s value lies in his ability to catch passes. Last week Gainwell was on the field for 34 offensive snaps, saw seven targets, and ran 21 routes.

The Lions are giving up 736 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns to opposing running backs. They have also surrendered 274 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns to the position.

ALSO CONSIDER: Samaje Perine, Cincinnati Bengals, 7% Rostered @ New York Jets

TIGHT ENDS

EVAN ENGRAM, NEW YORK GIANTS, 31% ROSTERED, @ KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

Stop me if you have heard this. If Engram is going to shine anytime, the time is now.

The Chiefs defense has given up 575 receiving yards and four touchdowns to the tight end position. Tight ends are averaging 10.1 fantasy points per game.

This should be a smash game for Engram. And yet, there are doubts.

ALSO CONSIDER: C.J. Uzomah, Cincinnati Bengals, 19% Rostered, @ New York Jets

CONCLUSION

Five games on the schedule are predicted to have 50 or more points.

I have gone strong on New York Giants (@theBleaguesays would be so proud). Remember it is a Monday Night Game, and the Packers game is Thursday.
