Riley Pettijohn is one of the most sought-after linebackers in the 2025 class, and the USC Trojans have ramped up their recruitment of him. The five-star, 2nd ranked LB in the nation, revealed that he would be announcing his commitment on July 6th and that his decision is down to Texas, Texas A&M, Ohio State, and USC.

On3 still has their prediction machine weighing heavily in favor of Texas landing Pettijohn at 93.2%. We have talked on the USC LAFB Show about the fact that SC and Coach Matt Entz have ramped up their pursuit of Pettijohn, and all indications were that his official visit a few weeks ago went very well.

With five days till his announcement, did a family member just hint that he would indeed shock the world and commit to the USC Trojans?

Is Riley Pettijohn Committing To The USC Trojans?

At this point, nothing is a guarantee, and even if Pettijohn were to commit to SC, as we have seen with Justus Terry, Isaiah Gibson, and Hylton Stubbs, holding onto him will be a whole other challenge, but at the very least this tells the story that Coach Entz has had a lasting impact.

Just one day after local LB prospect Noah Mikhail committed to Texas A&M, landing Pettijohn would not only be a huge victory but also somewhat of a necessary one.

While the Trojans have a ton of talent in the linebacker room heading into the 2024 season, all three projected starters, Easton Mascarenas-Arnold, Mason Cobb, and Eric Gentry, along with depth player Raesjon Davis, are all expected to declare for the draft after this season. Incoming freshmen Elijah Newby and Desman Stephans II look to be very talented long-term players, but the Trojans will certainly need to add to the room in 2025.

They already have local LB Matai Tagoa’i committed. Adding Riley Pettijohn would give them one of the best LB duos in the 2025 class.

Did Juliet Pettijohn give USC fans reason to rejoice, or was she simply praising Coach Entz and his efforts in recruiting?

Personally, I would lean towards Pettijohn taking his talents to So Cal, but we will know officially on July 6. We will have all the coverage for you right here on the LAFB Network!
